Potential buyers must come and view and test ride the bicycles in person and I will only entertain offers on bicycles from local purchasers unless we have a positive prior relationship.
Our shop is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
All of the mechanical work and wheel building has been done by myself unless otherwise noted, newly built wheels come with a limited lifetime guarantee just as if you had ordered a custom wheelset.
I will ship parts at the real cost of postage / insurance to any location but do note that overseas shipping can be very expensive.
This incredibly beautiful 1946 Magneet was purchased after World War Two and is being offered through RBF Cycles by it’s original owner, Magneet no longer exists as a manufacturer as they were absorbed by Batavus in the 1960’s but the parts are standard so replacements and spares are not hard to acquire.
He told me that he bought this bicycle for his girlfriend who then became his wife, they brought the bicycle to Canada when they emigrated.
An interesting detail is that before it came to Canada the rear wheel was upgraded (perhaps accidentally) to a 4 speed internal with an alloy hub shell, this is a rather rare hub.
The bicycle is being sold as is and only needs a small amount of work and has been checked over and rides out beautifully, it could use new tyres. We have also replaced the damaged headlight with a matching spare.
I have decided to thin the herd a little…
1973 Garlatti Parma 56 cm – $675.00
The upgrades to this mid range Italian bicycle include; Stronglight crankset and Marcel Berthet pedals, Arvon built custom wheels (Arvon hubs laced to Araya 1W rims), Simplex Retrofriction shifters, Suntour VXs rear derailleur and Vx front… all were new old stock and have seen very few miles since the re-build.
Many of the original parts were nothing to write home about and were entry level (steel) while the replacement parts are among some of the very best ever made, all were in very fine or new old stock condition.
I retained the original Universal brakes and levers as well as the stem and bars and this bicycle is rolling on Continental 1000 Sport tyres (27 inch) which provide a fast and comfortable ride, the custom made cartridge bearing hubs are as smooth as butter on glass.
The custom wheelset is worth $425.00 and I would consider selling the bicycle without wheels for the difference.
There is only one of these on the planet…
Moulden Custom XC Race: $850.00 (c. 1990) SALE PENDING
Frame is 18 inches / 46 cm with a 57 cm top tube, standover is 32 inches / 81cm… this is suitable for a rider between 5 foot ten and six feet.
The custom built frame and fork was bead blasted and powdercoated in 2013 and it has seen very few miles since this was done, the only mar on the frame is a small dent on the drive side chainstay that does not affect anything.
Equipped with custom built LX hubs laced to Mavic rims, Race Face forged crankset (triple), new 8 speed chain and cassette, Shimano 8 speed bar ends, LX derailleurs,LX cantis with Kool Stop pads, LX 11-27 cassette, Schwalbe Rocket Ron tyres (folding), Shimano 600 levers, Tektro cross levers. The headset is a WTB grease guard (these last forever), the bottom bracket is a new Shimano cartridge.
On slicker tyres this bike is very capable on the road although the stiffness of the frame warrants higher volume tyres.
This bike curbs out at 23 pounds, the frame is filet brazed 753 Reynolds and Tange Prestige and is as light as a comparable steel road frame… it is designed for fast cross country riding and will also handle singletrack if you have good riding skills. It can accommodate a rack in the rear as it does have rear eyelets… I did use it for lightweight commuting (before the re-finish) but it is way more fun to use it as a pure XC bike as it climbs like a goat on steroids, comes off the line like a rocket, and is also very comfortable over long distances.
If desired I can upgrade this bicycle to a 9 speed and / or alter the cassette for a wider gear range but the 11-27 gives plenty of that with the triple crank and shifts as well as any bicycle in my collection.
Chris King disc hubset – $550.00
These exemplary hubs (36 spoke) were laced once, spacing is 135 rear and 100mm front, and would provide the base for a wheelset that would take you many tens of thousands of kilometres.
The m.s.r.p. is close to $900.00 so this is a spectacular deal on the best cassette hubs on the market and we would be happy to build them into a wheelset of your choice.
